Causes of acquired penile curvature

The most common occurrence from the 50th years
Under an acquired penile curvature affects approximately 3 to 4 percent of all men. With increasing age, it is observed more frequently. Most often an acquired penile curvature occurs between the ages of 50 to 70 Years on.


Micro injuries can be the trigger
Smallest tissue injury (eg sexual intercourse) in the corpora cavernosa can - with impaired wound healing - the formation of an acquired penile curvature lead. Such tissue injury leads to blood storage between the two layers of the tunica albuginea with subsequent inflammation and scarring healing (see What happens when a penis curvature?) Possible causes of Experts suspect but also hormonal changes or a metabolic disorder of certain proteins.


Diseases that may favor the emergence of a penis curvature


It is clear that certain other conditions frequently encountered in connection with IPP:

     Dupuytren (30 to 40 percent)
     Crohn Ledderhose: This disease is found similar to Dupuytren's disease in the hand a contraction (contracture) of the plantar fascia, which can lead to deformity of the toes.
     liver cirrhosis
     Rheumatic Diseases
     diabetes mellitus
     gout
     Urethritis (inflammation of the urethra)

A certain correlation appears with a concomitant therapy with beta-blockers exist. This relationship is discussed, but can not yet be considered proven.
