Diagnosis using Pyelografie

The IVU is contraindicated, the Pyelografie is applied.
A specific radiological presentation of the ureter and renal pelvis is retrograde (backward) Pyelografie (pyelos = renal pelvis). This method of analysis is performed only rarely. It is indicated when a normal urography can not be performed. That is, for example, tumors and stones in the ureter or in the case. Even with renal insufficiency or allergy to contrast medium, retrograde Pyelografie is preferred.

A special catheter is inserted.
After a plain film, a thin, special shaped ureteral catheter is introduced back into the ureter. The catheter is inserted through the urethra and bladder through the round advanced to the orifice of the ureter into the bladder. Then, contrast medium filled and created a recording. The risk of an allergic reaction is low, because the contrast agent remains within the urine manager lumens.
