The nephroscopy is a percutaneous intervention.
A kidney mirroring nephroscopy is only rarely used for diagnostic purposes. The reason is that when nephroscopy a cut through the skin covering is required. This procedure is called a percutaneous intervention. The doctor makes up a small incision on the flank, while the person lies on his stomach. About this section puts the doctor in front of an endoscope up to the kidney. Then the kidney in the renal pelvis is punctured. From there, the endoscope can now penetrate into the renal pelvis. The surgery and the cuts are continuously monitored with the ultrasound device. In this way, the doctor always knows exactly where he is located.

The method is used as a therapeutic agent.
The main indication for nephroscopy is primarily the removal of kidney stones (percutaneous Nephrolithopaxie). This will be done bricks in question, who gets caught up in the renal pelvis or too large to go off through the ureter, or with shock waves can not be smashed. Also, with this method with the stasis of urine artificially derived from the renal pelvis and kidneys are relieved. As a reflection of renal complications, haemorrhage, and may be a violation of ureters and renal pelvis. The continuing violations of ultrasound, however, are rather rare.
