Often, the cause lies in the urinary tract.
Dull persistent pain usually occur during changes in the urinary tract. They are also known as body pain. The cause may be:

     inflammatory diseases of the kidney, such as inflammation of the glomeruli (glomerulonephritis)
     longer existing linings, narrowings or occlusions in the field of kidney tissue
     Tumors or cancers of the kidney or adrenal gland
     abnormal shape of the kidneys, such as horseshoe kidney or pelvic kidney
     acute renal failure
     kidney injury

A dull constant pain needs to be evaluated diagnostically accurate. Dull pain does not mean that an investigation may be postponed because "that's not so bad indeed." On the contrary, a medical diagnosis as early as possible to help avoid frequently fatal consequences.
