Often, the cause lies in the bladder.
Pain in the lower abdomen are used in very many diseases. Not always the cause of urogenital tract in the area is looking for. There, however, lower abdominal pain occurs frequently as an accompanying symptom of bladder emptying disorders in Harnblasendivertikeln, tumors and carcinomas of the urinary bladder. Even in acute urinary retention, bladder infections, prostate inflammation or testicular torsion can occur lower abdominal pain.


Pressure on the urethra can cause congestion.
The ureters can be narrowed or clogged. Then backs up the urine and can cause abdominal pain, which usually occur spasmodically. During pregnancy, the pressure on the urethra also lead to congestion. Also behind the peritoneum lying tumors can exert such pressure on the urethra.


Other possibilities:
A lot of diseases that are not attributed to the urogenital tract can also cause lower abdominal pain. These include: pelvic vein thrombosis, Divertikulitits, aortic aneurysm (ballooning of the aorta), adhesions, hernia, Crohn's disease, Meckel's diverticulum, salpingitis, ectopic pregnancy, endometriosis.
